Theory of Ducks is the recording project of Canadian-based singer-songwriter Saam Shahab, best known for his local involvement in the Montréal scene and regularly playing alongside other local bands.
After a run of singles, a split with Swinford, and a contribution to the Under One Roof charity comp between 2022 and 2024, Shahab now announces his first full-length album, Holding, Still, out mid-December 2025. Written and recorded over two years, the album marks a clear shift in his sound and lays the groundwork for what’s coming next.
Theory of Ducks’ involvement in the DIY scene through labels like Barklate and now Patchwork has allowed him to meet and collaborate with other talented indie musicians. Shahab’s love and appreciation for music has only grown, alongside his desire for creating something deeply personal that he may share with others.
Shahab believes that “Holding, Still” is that very thing he’s been trying to achieve, and is excited to involve himself more in the DIY scene.
