Benny Benji is the solo project of Benny Krummenacher, a Pittsburgh-based artist and Ph.D. student in computational biology. This project began in 2019 and by 2022, Benny had released 19 projects with 127 songs total. Since then, he has been more intentional with his releases, averaging an album per year. His most recent release is a split with close friends and Patchwork artists Taygaloo Cat and ebe.
Beyond writing, recording, and producing indie folk music, he creates his own album art and visual materials, drawing on his formal training in fine arts. Benny also serves as Artistic Director for Patchwork Label, having designed the label's brand materials and co-created the artwork with Mage Tears for the physical release of "Under One Roof," a 2023 compilation benefiting the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers.
